Competition Info -------------------- Competition Close Date: Thursday, October 15, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Calendar: 12 Month Salary: Staff Association Grade I, $49.30 - $60.83/hour FTE: 1.0, 35 Hours per Week Position Description ------------------------ Purpose The purpose of this job is to design, implement, and maintain data management and automation solutions that enhance device management processes and operational workflows across department and for the enterprise. The role is responsible for automating tasks essential for device fleet management through scripting, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of data, and producing actionable insights that support leadership decision making. The role enables close collaboration with internal teams and schools to support effective and efficient service delivery for client technologies. Accountability The job is accountable for: * Carrying out effective design, development, and maintenance of automation solutions, ensuring they are reliable, secure, and aligned with organizational standards and governance requirements. * Ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and structure of data models, dashboards, and reporting outputs, supporting operational insight and leadership decision making. * Conducting effective business analysis activities, including the elicitation of requirements, facilitation of in person and remote workshops, and documentation of functional and non‑functional specifications. * Producing and maintaining architecture and service design documentation, ensuring all artifacts align with established security principles, technical standards, and operational readiness expectations. * Knowledge transfer across the department through the development and delivering training materials, knowledge articles, and procedural documentation. * Fostering strong working relationships with business owners, stakeholders, schools, and vendors, ensuring effective communication, timely engagement, and consistent service delivery. * Maintaining operational visibility of CBE’s client technology fleets across all sites, ensuring device compliance and inventory accuracy. * Keeping current with software design, delivery and coding trends, and advances. Major responsibilities Automation, Integration, and Data Intelligence * Design and implement automation scripts (PowerShell, Python) to streamline device management and operational tasks. * Integrate automation with device system management systems, and IT Service Management (ITSM) tools to orchestrate deployments, compliance checks, and service workflows. * Develop and maintain data models, dashboards, and reports to monitor performance, compliance, and adoption. * Set and track KPIs for automation success (cycle time reduction, error rate, compliance pass rates) and data quality. * Identify automation opportunities through discovery with IT teams; prioritize and deliver solutions that improve service delivery. * Apply security best practices to scripts and data processes; align with SDLC frameworks. * Develop and document standards, procedures and guidelines related to scripting and client technology fleet management. * Understand and work consistently with IT and organizational governance processes and policies. * Proactively communicate progress and timelines of work assignments. * Perform other related responsibilities as assigned to meet the purpose and accountabilities of the role. Architecture, Service Design, and Knowledge Enablement * Produce architecture documentation, including High-Level Architectures (HLAs), solution overviews, and business/system objective documents aligned with CBE standards and security principles. * Perform on-site Business Analysis to gather requirements, lead workshops, map processes, and define functional/non-functional specifications. * Facilitate in-person collaboration sessions both in person and remotely with Service Desk, Specialists, and School staff to define support models, knowledge articles, escalation paths, and early‑life support plans. * Collaborate with the Service Desk to design and refine standardized service requests and service enhancements, ensuring workflow clarity and operational readiness. * Document processes, scripts, and workflows for knowledge sharing and operational readiness; support testing and validation across environments. * Develop and deliver training programs and knowledge resources (in‑person and remote) to ensure CTS staff proficiency. * Lead small to medium-sized projects as required. * Coordinate work and provide advice to medium-to-large project teams on technology initiatives. * Leverage project management understandings and practises to complete initiatives/projects. * Prepare and deliver presentations. * Build or participate in communities of practices with other IT developers. * Liaise with vendors and external agencies as required. On‑Site Technical Support, Operations, and Field Engagement * Join review meetings for pilots, POCs, and technology trials to gather direct feedback. * Engage in planning with project teams during major refresh cycles or new technology introductions. * Provide level‑3 technical support including field work for complex issues requiring physical access or specialized equipment. * Attend vendor meetings, demos, and technical deep‑dives to evaluate products and resolve escalated issues. * Support physical audits of devices, inventory, and compliance baselines across schools and administrative buildings. * Conduct root-cause analysis for recurring or complex technical issues. * Participate in team meetings, planning sessions, and in person professional development days. * As required, assist School Technologists with field work during critical school periods such as school start-ups, exams, major deployments, and priority incidents. * Maintain a visible presence at assigned sites to ensure strong relationships and timely support. May be required to participate in a 7x24 on-call rotation based on a predetermined schedule. What are we looking for? ---------------------------- Qualifications Education and Experience * Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related discipline. * 7 years of progressive experience in automation scripting, data analysis, and systems integration within large, complex environments. * 5 years of progressively complex scripting with PowerShell. * Experience with endpoint management tools such as SCCM, JAMF, Intune and ITSM platforms such as Ivanti ISM. * An intermediate to advanced certificate in secure software development lifecycle from SANS, ICS2, or similar organization is required. * Current Microsoft developer certifications or other applicable certifications would be an asset. * Familiarity with the Information Technology and Infrastructure Library (ITIL) or ITIL Certification would be an asset. * An equivalent combination of directly related post-secondary education and directly related current experience may be considered. Demonstrated Skills and Competencies * Extensive scripting and automation experience in managing a large fleet of end user devices within a large complex environment. * Proficient in developing data models and building interactive dashboards in Power BI. * Demonstrated competence perform data validation and reconciliation across large data sets. * Strong debugging and technical problem-solving skills, as well as a passion to undertake and solve complex problems in a highly demanding work environment. * Experienced with secure development lifecycle (SDLC) practices * Familiarity with various systems development methodologies including but not limited to Agile. * Experience using Azure DevOps for project planning, code repositories, and testing. * Self-driven with keen abilities to quickly learn and apply new technologies and techniques (business processes, systems, hardware and software). * Strong and effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. * Experience in leading face-to-face collaboration sessions with users, stakeholders, business owners, and cross-sectional team members. * Ability to provide broad technical leadership (within and outside of the software domain). * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and clients and vendors. * Ability to converse and collaborate effectively with business users regarding technology and technology related matters. * Strong organizational, multi-tasking and time management skills effective for meeting tight schedules and deadlines. * Ability to work independently on medium to large complex tasks in a team environment. * Ability to independently produce status reports for varied audiences. * Ability to work well under pressure and in stressful situations. * Ability to handle high degrees of ambiguity. * Commitment to continuously learn and grow intellectually. * Personal suitability.
